Michael Jackson: The Major Motion Picture?
The world was stunned by the unexpected death of its King of Pop: Michael Jackson. However, the singer may live oncinematically that is, Radar.com reports.
With greater than 80 hours of footage from various rehearsals, material is rampant for use in a feature film, which is reportedly in the works. The footage was captured in rehearsals for Jackson's up-and-coming 50-date London series that Jackson had been planning up until his death.
Sony Pictures Entertainment is in negotiations with AEG Entertainment, reports Variety blogger Mike Fleming, to produce the picture. AEG has been premiering and showcasing the footage to various studios to raise interest in the picture. Sony is reportedly set to pony up $50 million for the valuable footage. Rumors have it that Kenny Ortega, incredibly successful director of the "High School Musical" franchise, will be directing the picture.
Variety also reports that the upcoming film will feature a brand new, unseen version of Jackson's epitomizing hit music video"Thriller."
