Michael Jackson Public Memorial at Staples Center

The King of Pop to be remembered Tuesday morning in downtown Los Angeles.

Police sources announced preparations for a massive public memorial for Michael Jackson at the Staples Center on Tuesday morning, reports the Los Angeles Times.

In anticipation of early crowds, officers closed down Chick Hearn Court, a street that runs in front of the Los Angeles arena, Wednesday night. Members of Jackson's family have met with officials from the Los Angeles Police Department as well as the California Highway Patrol about funeral services.

The Jackson family has not yet confirmed memorial plans. A Jackson family spokesperson was questioned about the service at the downtown center, and simply answered "no comment."

Officials of Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale denied lingering rumors of the entertainer's body being kept at the cemetery.

Jackson's 2002 will was filed in courts Wednesday, and contained no specified plans for funeral or burial.

Jackson's brother Jermaine said he wished to see his brother's final resting place be at Neverland Ranch. It is said that permits for a burial at the Santa Barbara, Calif., mansion could not be arranged in time.
