Michael Moore Documents the Economic Crisis

Michael Moore plans to release a new documentary on Oct. 2 that features the financial downturn.

Bowling for Columbine and Farenheit 9/11 director Michael Moore, 55, plans to launch a new documentary featuring the global financial downturn.

Though still without a title, the expected release date is Oct. 2, almost exactly a year since Congress passed the first economic stimulus package, according to Overture Films and Paramount Vantage.

"The wealthy, at some point, decided they didn't have enough wealth," Moore stated. "They wanted more—a lot more. So they systematically set about to fleece the American people out of their hard-earned money. Now, why would they do this? That is what I seek to discover in this movie," the director said, according to Reuters.

This won't be the first time that Moore will document an economic crisis. According to Reuters, his 1989 film, Roger and Me, documented the aftermath in his own hometown of Flint, Michigan, after the downfall of General Motors.

Moore recently finished working on his documentary, Sicko, which traced the American healthcare industry. The documentary sold approximately $25 million in 2007, according to Reuters.
