Michael Moore's "Capitalism" Premieres at Venice Film Festival
Michael Moore premiered his newest film, "Capitalism: A Love Story," at the 66th Annual Venice Film Festival in Venice, Italy on Sunday. This is his first appearance at the event.
The newest offering by the documentary filmmaker was previously screened at the Cannes Film Festival to much success. So far, the film has had a positive reception when it was screened for critics, Saturday. Variety calls it one of Moore's "best pics."
The filmmaker said that he dedicated the film to the "good people . . . who've had their lives ruined" by corporate greed, he told reporters Sunday. The film features this scenario as well as tales of workers who have rebelled.
The rebellion that Moore calls for, according to him, "began Nov. 4," the day President Barack Obama was elected. Despite this emphasis on change and rebellion, Moore's main focus remains good filmmaking, to create a picture that "makes you laugh a little, or cry, or think. I am happy with all those results."
