Michael Phelps Dating?

For Michael Phelps, what's stranger - being the greatest athlete in the world, or making the transition from Olympic icon to celebrity eye candy? The gossip question of the hour is whether or not Phelps, who broke a gold-medal record at the Beijing Games this summer, is involved romantically with anyone. According to People Magazine, the swimmer is keeping the answer to that question as ambiguous as possible. In a recent interview, he reminded fans, "I never said I have a girlfriend, and I never said I don't have a girlfriend. My public and private life are separate. I keep my private life to myself." He is most lately rumored to be dating a former Miss California runner-up, Nicole Johnson. Johnson would only tell People that the pair were "good friends." As Phelps moves more and more quickly onto the Hollywood scene, though, it will become increasingly harder for him to keep certain secrets. People reported that Phelps will host the September 12 season premiere of Saturday Night Live, in addition to making a cameo appearance on HBO's Entourage.
