Michelle Obama delivered more than 500 toys for needy children, reported The Washington Post.

On Wednesday afternoon the First Lady delivered two sacks of donated toys to the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots campaign.

Michelle began a toy collection drive for the campaign when she unveiled the Christmas decorations in the White House.

She was greeted by volunteers, staff and Marines at a warehouse where the toys were sorted.

Michelle announced the White House will keep being involved with the Toys for Tots, and made a special request for donations toward children 11 to 14 years old.

The First Lady was accompanied by her daughters; Malia, 11 years old and Sasha, 8 years old.

The Toys for Tots campaign has collected 59,064 gifts and 74,406 have been requested.

Toys received at the warehouse are delivered to needy children throughout nine counties in Virginia.

Since the campaign began in 1947, the Marines have distributed more than 400 million toys.
