Michelle Williams Wants Matilda to "Have Options"

Heath Ledger's daughter won't grow up to be a Hollywood star.

Michelle Williams isn't hoping her daughter Matilda will follow her and her father's footsteps.

Speaking with People.com, Williams insists that Matilda won't be a Hollywood child, despite her deceased, Oscar-winning father Heath Ledger's fame in the acting world. Instead, Williams is hoping her daughter will choose a completely different path such as becoming a doctor.

Williams, who says she's a stay-at-home mom more than anything, said that Matilda won't grow up in Los Angeles "for all the obvious reasons. Being an actor's daughter. It's a town that's about one thing, and I want her to have options."

The actress also spoke about Ledger's death, saying that the grief "just gets worse."

Though she's been spending time with her daughter rather than acting, Williams says she's out of the ordinary for doing so. "As a young actress, you feel this intense pressure to work. Everybody says, 'The time is now.' But I can be 28 and take a year off. Hopefully they'll still be something to go back to."

Williams isn't worrying too much about her acting future, adding, "It used to be a refuge and now it's a hassle. I'll be happy making movies for $300,000 for the rest of my life if the roles are interesting."
