Tool will allow video-game fanatics to create their own titles

Microsoft announced the launch of software that will help gamers create their own games for the Xbox 360 game system.

Microsoft said the toolkit, called XNA Game Studio Express, will allow game enthusiasts to create their own games for Microsoft Windows or the Xbox, according to the Associated Press.

A test version of the software should be available by Aug. 30, according to the AP. A full version of the software should be available for the holiday season and cost users $99 a year to use.

Microsoft also said user-developed games have the possibility of being mass-produced and made available.
