Miley Cyrus Apologizes for Racy Vanity Fair Photo Shoot

Miley Cyrus says she is embarrassed about her recent "Vanity Fair" photographs.

According to the Associated Press, Miley Cyrus has apologized to her fans for posing in scandalous photographs for an upcoming issue of Vanity Fair. She has expressed her feelings of embarrassment after having seen the photographs and reading the story.

The photos were taken by Annie Leibovitz, a well-respected photographer, and allegedly include some shots of Cyrus topless and covering herself with a blanket. The 15-year-old star was accompanied by her father, singer Billy Ray Cyrus, for the interview and photo shoot.

Vanity Fair defended its story and photographs. Speaking of the controversial photograph, the magazine said, "Everyone thought it was a beautiful and natural portrait of Miley."

Cyrus is the star of the Disney Channel TV show, Hannah Montana. Her singing career has catapulted with her tour, "Best of Both Worlds," which sold out arenas across the nation. She is considered to be a role model for young girls.
