Miley Cyrus Can't Wait to Not Be Hannah Montana
"What I am sure about is I'm going to rejoice and be happy to finally not have to be . . . well, to not be somebody I'm not exactly."
That's what Miley Cyrus has to say about bidding farewell to her run on Hannah Montana. After her stint as the blockbuster titular Disney character, Cyrus says she's ready to distance herself from her frilly alter ego.
"As I've grown into it, I've grown out of it," Cyrus tells Parade magazine. "When I was 12, I thought, 'I want to be famous all the time!'"
Now that she's started filming on the fourth season, though, it's all the teen pop star can do to grit her teeth through the sparkles and frills of her TV persona.
"I hate being thought of as a product," she says. "I am not a doll, and people want to treat me that way. . . . I'm older now. I have an opinion. I have my own taste."
With any luck, her upcoming romance, The Last Song, will help her re-focus her career path the way she hopes. If nothing else, she's gotten a hunky Australian boyfriend out of it.
