Miley Cyrus' Dad Approves of Pole Dance

Billy Ray Cyrus said he lets his daughter have "a lot of freedom."

Miley Cyrus' pole dance at Teen Choice Awards may have sparked debate among fans, but her father apparently does not see any controversy with it.

According to zap2it.com, Billy Ray Cyrus did not point out anything wrong with the dance that took place earlier this month. He said his kids are free "to make the art they want to make, and make it in their own voice. I think it's important."

The Los Angeles Times reports that Billy Ray does not want Miley to worry about opinions, which arose from fans after her singing "Party in the USA" while dancing around a pole on top of an ice cream cart. The 16-year-old has also faced controversy after posing topless for Vanity Fair in 2008.

Fans can now look forward to something that should not be as controversial. MTV.com said more information about Miley's new album "Time of Our Lives" is being revealed, in particular the album cover. Songs will include "Kicking and Screaming" and "Before the Storm," a duet with Nick Jonas.
