Miley Cyrus Slams Radiohead for Grammys Snub
Teen idol Miley Cyrus has kicked off one of the strangest celebrity rivalries the music industry has ever seen. The 16-year-old has engaged in a war of the words with the rock band Radiohead after the English singers snubbed Cyrus backstage at February's Grammy Awards.
According to PopEater, Cyrus tried to use her star power to arrange a meeting backstage with the British band at the Grammys, but was informed by Radiohead's management that "The band doesn't really do that."
During a radio interview, Cyrus went on to criticize the band she claimed to be "freakishly obsessed" with, insisting she was so upset by the band's dismissal that she left the awards show before Radiohead performed, telling the interviewers: "I'm gonna ruin them, I'm going to tell everyone." Cyrus even went so far as to refer to the band as "Stinkin' Radiohead."
Only adding fuel to the feud, a Radiohead spokesperson issued a scathing statement to Us Weekly in response to Cyrus's comments on Friday, which said, "When Miley grows up, she'll learn not to have a sense of entitlement."
