Miley Cyrus Will Not Walk Disney's Red Carpet
According to the Associated Press, Miley Cyrus will no longer be walking Disney's red carpet Friday. Cyrus did appear at the resort in Florida Thursday to sign autographs and take photographs with Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Disney did not say why the young star is no longer planning to attend the event.
Cyrus has been under intense scrutiny this week for posing in controversial, partially nude photographs for Vanity Fair. The magazine and photographer, Annie Leibovitz, defended the photographs and said Cyrus and her family approved of the photos during the shoot. Cyrus made a statement apologizing to fans and said she felt "embarrassed" by the pictures.
Dozens of Disney Channel stars are going to the red carpet event which is a charity competition entitled "Disney Channel Games."
The 15-year-old star of Hannah Montana has been regarded as a role model for young girls; a rare gem in an industry which thrives off of publicizing the party life of young celebrity females. Since the release of the Vanity Fair photos, her wholesome image is in question.
