Millionaire Win For ""lumdog"
Slumdog Millionaire, the story about the hardship and success of an orphan from India, made a surprising run to win four Golden Globes last night at the ceremony for the prestigious awards. The Globes set "Slumdog" up for a possible nomination for the Oscars and could make them the strongest contender to win at the Academy awards.
The movie, which is set in Mumbai and is made up of a cast of unknown actors, took the award for best drama leaving Brad Pitt's "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," DiCaprio's "Revolutionary Road," and Ron Howard's "Frost/Nixon" in the dust.
Surrounded by reporters, a very emotional and surprised Freida Pinto couldn't believe the success of "Slumdog." "Is this really happening to me?" She said. "My first film wins four Golden Globes? I just can't believe it."
Aside from the big prize, "Slumdog" also received awards for best screenplay and musical score. Director Danny Boyle received the movie's remaining award for best director. "The film was made from the heart, and we never expected to be here, and it's incredible that we are," Boyle said backstage, according to the Associated Press.
