Mills Awarded Huge Sum in Settlement in Divorce from McCartney

Heather Mills was awarded $48.6 million Monday in her divorce settlement from Paul McCartney.

A document released by the Family Court broke down the $48.6 million amount into a $33 million lump sum plus the assets Mills is currently holding, worth $15.6 million, according to the Associated Press.

Following the closed hearing, Mills told reporters "I'm so, so happy with this."

The court also ruled that the divorced couple's four-year-old daughter, Beatrice, should receive a "periodical payments order" of $70,000 per annum from McCartney. In addition, the former Beatle will pay for their child's nanny and school fees.

Mills had sought almost $250 million, while McCartney argued that she should only receive $31.6 million, including her own assets totaling $15.6 million.

McCartney left the court without making a statement, while Mills said, "I'm so glad it's over," at an impromptu news conference.
