After being missing since Tuesday, police found country singer Mindy McCready last night with her son in an Arkansas residence.
The Arkansas home, located in Heber Springs, allegedly belongs to McCready's boyfriend and was under surveillance for several hours before the singer and her son were found hiding in the closet.
McCready and her 5-year-old son, Zander, disappeared on Tuesday after McCready reportedly took her son from her father's house in Cape Coral, Florida. McCready's parents have had custody of Zander since 2007, due to McCready's involvement with drugs and other legal issues.
Upon the police's discovery, McCready was taken into custody and Zander was taken to the Arkansas Division of Children and Family Services, who are arranging for him to be sent to his grandmother in Florida. Zander was reported in good condition by eastern Arkansas chief deputy U.S. Marshal David Rahbany.
McCready has not yet faced any charges and it is unclear if she will in the future.
McCready, who is seven-months pregnant with twins, has recently been fighting in the Florida courts to reclaim custody of her child.
"I'm real excited that he's safe," Gayle Inge, Zander's grandmother and McCready's mother, disclosed in regard to Zander. "But I can't explain what this is like. We feel for Mindy and we feel for Zander."
Inge added, "We feel sorrow for Zander because he's traumatized, and for Mindy. We just hope she does the right thing from here on out and that this is a wake-up call for her."
