Miranda Lambert Makes History with 9 CMA Noms

Lambert has been nominated for nine awards, which is the most ever for a female country recording artist

The 2010 CMA awards are upon us, but even though country music’s biggest evening hasn’t begun just yet, history has already been made. Today’s announcement revealed country singer Miranda Lambert has been nominated for nine awards, the most ever for a female country singer.

Lady Antebellum came in second place with five nominations, while Blake Shelton came in third with four. Lambert and Dierks Bentley announced five categories of nominations early this morning on Good Morning America, which Lambert excitedly tweeted for fans to “tune in” to. The first seven had already been announced in Nashville on Tuesday.

According to the Associated Press, Lambert’s latest album, Revolution, “fell just short” of 10 nominations, a record set in 2002 by Alan Jackson. Nevertheless, Lambert’s album, released in fall 2009, has been very successful and critically acclaimed among fans and critics. Some of the album’s songs include “White Liar,” “Dead Flowers,” and “Only Prettier.”

Among Lambert’s many nominations is a nod for Entertainer of the Year, considered to be the highest award given out at the CMAs. Other nominees include Lady Antebellum, Brad Paisley, Zac Brown Band, and Keith Urban.

Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley will be hosting the 44th Annual CMA awards, set to air live on Nov. 10, 8/7c on ABC.
