Mischa Barton Gets Probation

According to Reuters, Mischa Barton was sentenced to three years unsupervised probation on Thursday, as well as ordered to enter a alcohol education program after she plead no contest to drunk driving.

A court official said prosecutors dismissed her marijuana possession charge and reduced a charge of driving without a license to an infraction, which prevented the O.C star from spending any time in jail. She was also fined about $2,000.

"Ms. Barton understands the seriousness of this situation and assumes full responsibility for her actions," said Barton's lawyer, Anthony V. Salerno in a statement. "She and I are grateful to the court and the District Attorney's Office for the prompt and respectful resolution of the case."

Barton's hearing was associated with her arrest on Dec. 27, where police said the actress was weaving between two lanes and failed to signal a turn while driving in West Hollywood, according to Reuters.

Barton spent approximately seven hours in jail and was released on $10,000 bond.
