Mischa Barton pleas no contest to drunken driving
According to Reuters, actress Mischa Barton was sentenced to three years unsupervised probation on Thursday after pleading no contest to drunken driving. Additionally, "The O.C." star was fined about $2,000 and ordered to complete a three-month alcohol education program.
Prosecutors dismissed Barton's charge of marijuana possession and reduced another charge of driving without a license to an infraction.
Barton was pulled over December 27 in West Hollywood for failing to signal a turn and weaving between two lanes of traffic. She was arrested after she did not provide her driver's license to police who suspected she was intoxicated and found marijuana in her vehicle. The 22-year-old actress spent about seven hours in jail and was released after posting $10,000 bond.
Barton's lawyer entered her plea of no contest in a Beverly Hills court, as she was not present for the proceedings.
"I just don't ever intend to do something this stupid again," Barton said on a Los Angeles radio talk show in January.
