Miss America Gets Some TLC

The Miss America pageant is moving to TLC.

The annual Miss America pageant has been tossed around from station to station, hoping some ratings will stick. The competition was dropped from ABC in 2004 due to dismal ratings and was later picked up by CMT. CMT changed the venue in hopes of sparking some younger interest. The pageant went from Atlantic City to Sin City, Las Vegas, Nevada. The show's last broadcast brought in a mere 2.4 million viewers, so CMT dropped the show. TLC, which is known for shows like "Trading Spaces" and "While You Were Out," picked up the competition for the next three years. Just because there is a three year deal in place does not mean that TLC won't drop it due to poor ratings. TLC is planning a reality series to go along with the 52 contestants and focusing on the girls preparing for the pageant. The competition will air on Saturday, January 26th, 2008, at the Planet Hollywood in Vegas.
