Miss California Fires Back
The late Miss California, Carrie Prejean, has decided to fight back against those running the Miss USA pageant, who made the decision to fire her in June, according to reuters.com.
Prejean's attorneys maintain that Pageant authorities have simply used excuse after excuse to terminate the woman who vocalized her opinion against same-sex marriage during the competition. The question regarding gay marriage was posed by a judge who happened to be a gay human rights blogger.
CBSnews.com reports that Prejean is now seeking unspecified damages, claiming that this is a matter of discrimination against her religious beliefs. The argument of the Miss USA pageant is that the reason for forcing Prejean to hand in her crown was that she failed to attend certain events, as was her responsibility. She also apparently performed a breach of contract by making appearances on such shows as "Fox & Friends" without speaking on behalf of the pageant and her title.
The trial begins tomorrow, September 1st, at the Los Angeles Court of Law.
