Mistrial Declared in Biggie's Murder Case

The Judge ruled a mistrial, giving the Wallace family another chance to try the case

The saga of Notorious B.I.G's trial continues nearly a decade after the rapper's murder. A federal judge declared a mistrial in the wrongful-death suit on Wednesday, giving the Biggie's family, the Wallace's, a chance to start over in a case that, from the very start, lacked direct evidence of police or city involvement. The family's attorneys had accused the police of purposely concealing tapes and more than thousands of pages of internal Los Angeles Police Department documents. City lawyers claimed that their failure to turn over documents was unintentional. Despite the hassle of starting things from scratch, Assistant City Attorney Don Vincent is ready to try the case again. "I'd like to see the case tried on its merits," he said. "And maybe now we'll get to its merits." You know what they say, "It ain't over 'til it's over," and it sure don't look like it'll be over anytime soon.
