Stand up comedienne and actress Mo’Nique’s late night talk show on BET has been placed on indefinite hiatus.
The show, which premiered in October of 2009 with great fanfare, featured a variety of ethnically and culturally diverse guests and entertainers, reports HollywoodReporter.com.
The show’s ratings have gone down in the past few months. It will not resume production this fall and has been put on "indefinite hiatus," which is industry-lingo for "canceled." New episodes will air for the next two weeks then repeats will air, as per Los Angeles Times.
BET said in a statement, "Mo'Nique Hicks and The Mo'Nique Show are important to the BET Networks family and we look forward to continuing our relationship with her."
She rose to fame on the UPN show, The Parkers, which aired from 1999 to 2004. Mo’Nique has also starred on Moesha in the 2006 comedy, Phat Girlz, and is currently filming the comedy, Bumped.
Hicks won the Oscar in 2009 for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her performance in Precious.
