Monkees' Songwriter, John Stewart, Dies
Hit songwriter, John Stewart, passes away at the age of 68.
According to The New York Times, John Stewart, who wrote the Monkees' hit song, "Daydream Believer," passed away this weekend. Stewart died of a brain aneurysm, Saturday at a San Diego hospital.
Stewart created music that was a cross between rock, country, and folk genres. He was also known for writing chart topping songs for other artists.
Stewart joined the group Kingston Trio in 1961 and helped sustain an American folk music revival. He recorded over a dozen albums with the group before embarking on his own solo career.
Stewart is survived by his wife and four children.
