Monsters vs. Aliens to Have 3D Trailer During the Super Bowl
According to ComingSoon.net and islander90, during a football game on NBC, a commercial revealed that a special 3D trailer of the new DreamWorks CG animated feature, Monsters vs. Aliens, will air during the Super Bowl telecast on February 1, 2009. This news was perhaps premature since Paramount was going to make the announcement on an AP Wire later this evening. Though it is also possible Paramount was referring to another announcement.
The commercial ad promoting the 3D trailer for Monsters vs. Aliens during the Super Bowl can now be found on YouTube. The ad encourages viewers to pick up their special 3D glasses at a SoBe Lifewater display at their local retail shops. The glasses can be used to watch the Monsters vs. Aliens trailer during the Super Bowl television broadcast. This will be the first ever 3D trailer to air during a Super Bowl broadcast. The 3D promotional event also works in conjunction with NBC wanting to air an episode of their series, Chuck, in 3D as well. NBC had wanted to air multiple shows in 3D format, but due to logistical complications, Chuck was decided for the format.
Monsters vs. Aliens will be released in theaters March 27, 2009. It will be released in conventional theaters, in InTru 3D and IMAX formats.
