Montel Williams on the Air

The talk show host gets his own radio show.

Popular talk show host Montel Williams will now have a show on talk radio. Williams has signed on to Air America, the station that former comedian Al Franken helped launch in 2004, according to Reuters.com.

According to Williams's contract, the talk show host will debut the program, Montel Across America, starting April 6, which will then air weekdays beginning at 9 a.m. He will take over the slot left behind by Al Franken, the comedian turned senate candidate who helped start Air America in response to the conservative circuit headed by Rush Limbaugh.

Williams will be a good addition to the struggling radio station, as there are several unknowns and barely-remember-their-names on the air. Among them are Arianna Huffington, MSNBC'S Rachel Maddow, and Ron Reagan, liberal son of conservative former President Ronald Reagan.

Williams, best known for TV's long running talk show, The Montel Williams Show, is originally from Baltimore, and was a former U.S. Marine.
