Morgan Freeman Released from Hospital

Morgan Freeman has been released from the hospital after being admitted after a crash on Sunday.

Morgan Freeman was released from the hospital after recovering from a car crash he was recently involved in. He released a short statement that was issued after his release which said that he was well, reported the BBC.

The star broke his arm and, as a result, had to go through surgery. In the crash, his car overturned and landed in a ditch near his home in Mississippi on Sunday. His passenger, a female, was also injured. Freeman's lawyer said on Wednesday that the actor and his wife of 24 years were getting divorced. Bill Luckett, Freemen's attorney, told the BBC, "And for legal and practical purposes the pair have been separated since December 2007. Freeman and his wife, costume designer Myrna Colley-Lee, married in June of 1984.

The accident's cause is still unknown and police are saying that the actor may have fallen asleep at the wheel. The condition of Demaris Meter, Freeman's passenger, has still not been released.

In 2005, Freeman won an Oscar for best-supporting actor in the boxing drama, Million Dollar Baby. Last year it was announced that he would play former South African president Nelson Mandela in the upcoming film, The Human Factor. His first credit in a film was his appearance in the 1971 movie, Who Says I Can't Ride a Rainbow. Before his appearance on screen, he was a mechanic in the U.S. Air Force, reported the BBC.
