Little League diamond commemorates Nick Adenhart

The mother of late Los Angeles Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart has memorialized her son by placing a sign on the Little League field where he sharpened his skills, ESPN reports.Janet Gigeous joined approximately 150 people Sunday on a Little League field in Halfway, Md. The red-white-and-blue sign commemorates the diamond as Nicholas James Adenhart Memorial Field. The ceremony comes on Adenhart's birthday: the pitcher would have turned 23 years old on August 24.The sign features a quote from baseball great Pete Rose, which reads: "You owe it to yourself to be the best you can possibly be ... in baseball and in life."Adenhart was killed in a traffic accident last April in Fullerton, Calif. The man charged in the drunken-driving crash is scheduled for trial in November.Adenhart started in one game this season, pitching six scoreless innings on April 8.
