Mr. and Mrs. Smith hosting BET Awards
Will Smith's goal: to impress the global significance of U.S. black culture.
While on a recent trip to Africa, Will Smith saw something scribbled across the side of a shack, it read: Tupac Shakur.
Although Will Smith is mostly known for being a movie star for his roles in "Men in Black" or for his dramatic breakthrough performance in "Six Degrees of Separation," he is in fact a Grammy winner. In 1988, he won the first rap Grammy for "Parents Just Don't Understand".
Will has said he wants hip-hop artists to stray away from the bad reputations in living the "gansta" life. He thinks black communities are misperceived.
At 36 Will Smith is a triple threat with a movie, television, and music career under his belt.
The BET Awards show hosted by Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith airs tonight June 28th on BET (8p.m. ET/PT)
