MTV announced that Aziz Ansari will host the MTV Movie Awards, which will air live from Los Angeles on June 6.
Ansari, 27, can add his latest gig to his list of accomplishments. He had his own stand-up special on Comedy Central. He also co-starred in the NBC sitcom Parks & Recreation.
The comedian, who got his start working in New York had a sketch comedy show called Human Giant for two seasons on MTV in 2007 and 2008. He recently sold three movies that he has written to film producer, director, screenwriter and Golden Globe nominee Judd Apatow.
“I thought it would be a good fit — I love doing stand-up and I love making short films,” he told USA Today about the upcoming award show.
Ansari is currently on tour. In an interview with Ellen DeGeneres he explained “you get kind of used to being on the road and traveling…you make the most of it.”
“My family is really excited,” he stated.
