MTV Movie Awards Nominations Announced

The fans were in charge of picking the nominees for MTV's annual Movie Awards show airing May 31, according to MTV.com. They gave the super hit, Twilight, seven nominations including Best Movie, Best Female Performance (Kristen Stewart), Best Kiss and Breakthrough Male Performance for both Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. Slumdog Millionaire follows the vampire flick with six nominations: Best Picture, Breakthrough Female (Freida Pinto) and Male (Dev Patel) Performances and Best Kiss.

Voting started today for all categories and can be done online at MTV.com to decide who wins the Golden Popcorn trophies.

Rounding out the Best Picture category are The Dark Knight, High School Musical 3 and Iron Man. Other highlights in the nominee list are: Angelina Jolie (Best Female Performance), Shia LaBeouf (Best Male Performance), Miley Cyrus (Breakthrough Performance Female), James Franco (Best Comedic Performance), Heath Ledger (Best Villain) and Paul Rudd & Thomas Lennon (Best Kiss).

This year, the show is unveiling a new category called "Best WTF Moment," of which nominees include Amy Poehler peeing in the sink (Baby Mama), Angelina Jolie curving bullets (Wanted), Ayush Mahesh Khedekar jumping in poop (Slumdog Millionaire), Ben Stiller tasting decapitated head (Tropic Thunder) and Jason Segel's naked breakup (Forgetting Sarah Marshall).

Saturday Night Live cast member Andy Samberg will host the show and Eminem is set to perform.
