Napoleon Dynamite was the big winner at the 2005 MTV movie awards Saturday, walking away with the prize for movie of the year.
Dynamite was the surprise hit of 2004, and beat out Ray, Kill Bill Vol. 2, The Incredibles and Spiderman 2 for the coveted award. The newest cult classic has spawned a wave of catch phrases (Do the chickens have large talons?) and merchandise, including the ever popular Vote for Pedro and What Would Napoleon Do t-shirts.
John Heder took home awards for breakthrough male star and best musical performance for his memorable dance number to Jamiroquais' "Canned heat."
And speaking of cult classics, The Breakfast Club alumi Molly Ringwald, Ally Sheedy and Anthony Michael Hall celebrated as MTV honored the 20th anniversary of the films release. Southern California band Yellowcard paid homage to the teen film by doing a cover of the Simple Minds classic "Don't You Forget About Me."
Other highlights of the evening included performances by the lovely Mariah Carey, the Foo Fighters and Eminem, who by the way, made fun of people, but I'm sure you already guessed that.
