Let's be honest, we all get a little teary-eyed when Kermit breaks out the guitar and sings a rendition of "The Rainbow Connection," and when all those people showed up to support the Muppets outside the theater at the end of The Muppet Movie, hearts were swelling.

Leave it to Fox News to shatter the facade. According to ABC News, after the release of The Muppet Movie several months ago, Fox Business Channel's Eric Bolling said that the Muppets were simply puppets with a liberal agenda and accused the film of brainwashing children.

"The Muppets are back and being terrorized by an evil oil executive in their new movie," Bolling said about the movie's oil tycoon villain. "Liberal Hollywood depicting a successful businessman as 'evil,' that's not new. I'll put it out there: Is liberal Hollywood using class warfare to kind of brainwash our kids?"

Don't expect the Muppets to take this accusation lying down. New York Daily News reported that Kermit and Miss Piggy broke their silence on the matter in a London press conference last week in anticipation of the British release of the film.

"Oh yeah, it's sooo dangerous," Kermit said. "It's a funny thing, they were concerned with us having some prejudice against oil companies and I can tell you that's categorically not true. And besides, if we had a problem with oil companies, why would we have spent the entire film driving around in a gas-guzzling Rolls Royce?"

Never one to be left out, Miss Piggy also told the press what she had to say about the matter. "It's almost as laughable as accusing Fox News of, you know, being…news."

Kermit and Miss Piggy bantered back and forth like the old couple they are. After Piggy's jab, Kermit replied, "Boy that's going to be all over the Internet."

Fox might have underestimated the power of puppets in the press. The Muppets clearly have many fierce champions, including the numerous celebrity guests that appeared in the movie, not to mention First Lady Michelle Obama, who made an appearance on Sesame Street. The press obviously enjoyed and participated wholeheartedly in the conference, and laughed as Miss Piggy got in one final dig. "If they take what I say seriously, they have a real big problem."
