My Chemical Romance dispells car accident rumors
After My Chemical Romance canceled a show, several rumors of car accidents and injuries were launched; the band explained its absence in a letter posted on its Web site.
The goth-rock band pulled out of a performance last weekend at San Diego's Street Scene festival, citing "unforeseen circumstances" as the reason for the cancellation.
The group denied rumors about their absence in the letter, saying lead singer Gerard Way "tore multiple ligaments in his ankle" while he and bandmates were shooting a video for their upcoming album. Drummer Bob Bryar also "received a bad burn to the back of his leg."
"So there you have it, there were no car wrecks, monster attacks or alien abductions, but there were serious injuries that required this to be the way," the band said. "We hate canceling shows, especially now that we are done recording and just want to play. We miss you all and will see you soon."
They later tried to rehearse for the San Diego performance but it "proved impossible."
The band's currently untitled album is due Oct. 24.
