Nancy Kerrigan Writes About Father's Death
Nancy Kerrigan has finally opened up about her father’s death. Her father, Daniel Kerrigan, died of a heart attack Jan. 24. He was allegedly assaulted in his Massachusetts home by her brother, Mark, before his heart attack.
Kerrigan wrote a letter to her friends and fans expressing what he meant to her family. It was first released by ET.
“Dear Friends, The last several weeks have been the most difficult of my life,” she wrote. Kerrigan called her dad her “safety net” and said he was always there for her “no matter what turn the world might take.”
“For my mother, he was much more than that. He was her eyes, her confidante, her dance partner, her life partner. In short, he was her everything.”
Regarding her brothers, Kerrigan said their dad was “the ultimate role model: the guy they continue to try to emulate. And his impact spread far beyond our family,” she wrote.
According to Kerrigan, “over 2,000 people lined up in 20 degree weather and stood for over 3 hours to pay their last respects.” The people ranged from a pizza delivery guy to congressmen, she said.
“He was a friend to everyone and had a special place in each one’s life.”
Kerrigan concluded the letter by expressing how much he will be missed.
“We will miss my dad every day. Whether it is hearing him tell the kids one of his silly stories or watching him roll his eyes as he goes to the market for the fourth time that afternoon or having beer with him at the end of the day. Mainly, we will miss just knowing he is there…”
