The Olympic skater's father will be laid to rest this morning in Massachusetts.

Daniel Kerrigan, father of Olympic skater Nancy Kerrigan, will be laid to rest this morning in Stoneham, Mass., The Boston Globe reports.

People magazine reports the line of mourners at Wednesday’s wake was a block long.

The Kerrigans, per People, released a statement saying:
“Dan Kerrigan was, first and foremost, a man whose family was the center of his world.”

Nancy Kerrigan said her father was always behind her and he was very close with her three children.

"I was virtually unable to go anywhere as a kid or an adult, without someone coming up to me saying, with a big smile, ‘I just saw your dad – he’s the greatest,'" Michael Kerrigan said, praising his father’s reputation, People reports.

Daniel Kerrigan died after a supposed physical altercation with his oldest son, Mark, on Sunday.

According to The Boston Globe, Mark Kerrigan has been charged with assault and battery. He has pleaded not guilty, and was sent to a Massachusetts state hospital for a psychological evaluation. He will not attend his father’s funeral.
