Kelis gave birth to her and Nas's son on July 21, but Nas was not invited to the delivery room, according to ThisIs50.com.
According to Nas's lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, the Queens rapper was in New York City on that day and anticipated witnessing the event in person.
"Nas is in New York City today, anxiously awaiting the arrival of his son. It was his intention to be there for the birth, but unfortunately he has not been allowed to be present," said a close associate of Nas to AllHipHop.com. "While this is clearly heartbreaking to him, Nas continues to offer his support and love to his new baby boy and his mother."
Nas and Kelis were originally scheduled for a court appearance on July 21 to resolve their messy divorce. But it was postponed after Kelis began labor around 10:30 a.m. As of now no new date has been set.
Kelis filed for divorce in April, citing "irreconcilable differences." Since then, she has accused Nas of not providing child support or sharing his wealth with her. However, Nas claims that she highly exaggerated his earnings from his latest release, Untitled, and that he did purchase her a stroller, baby sling and two cribs.
