Natalie Cole Postpones Her Tour Because of Hepatitis C

The singer was hospitalized due to her arduous treatment and schedule.

Grammy-award winning singer, Natalie Cole, was admitted to a New York hospital earlier today after she had a setback in treating her Hepatitis C.

"She's been under treatrment for Hep C, which has been laying dormant in her system from years ago," publicist Maureen O'Connor tells E! News.

"It's a pretty hefty treatment, and she's dealing with the side effects."

She said to the Los Angeles Times, "The combination of the treatment she's been undergoing and the heavy promotional schedule for her new album took its toll."

"Her doctors decided they needed to put her in the hospital. They expect her to be there for a few days, then she'll be on a month of bed rest."

As a result, in-store promotions and the concert tour for her new album, Still Unforgettable, have been cancelled until further notice.

"I wanted to express my sincerest apologies as I was excited to greet my fans tonight, but my illness got the best of me," Cole said in a statement. "I look forward to seeing you all very soon."

The 58-year-old songstress is the daughter of legendary singer, Nat King Cole. She went public with her battle with this liver disease in July. She believed that she got the disease due to her heroin addiction in the early '80s.
