Natalie Portman to Produce and Star in Upcoming Film Based on "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies"

The actress' production company is set to start production in 2011

Natalie Portman is starring and producing the upcoming movie “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies,” reported New York Daily News.

Portman will be producing the film based on the best-selling book “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies,” by Seth Grahame-Smith.

The writer, who used Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice as the plot, added flesh-eating zombies to the classic love story.

Grahame-Smith is the author of “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter,” “Pardon My President: Fold-and-mail Apologies for 8 years of George W. Bush,” and “How to Survive a Horror Movie: All the Skills to Dodge the Kills.”

The publisher’s, Quirk Books, are a company known for taking public domain novels and adding twists of popular culture such as zombies, monsters and ninjas.

Portman will be playing the character Elizabeth Bennet.

The film is set to be produced by Portman’ company Handsome Charlie films and Dark Films and directed by Richard Kelly.

“Pride and Prejudice and Zombies” is set to release in 2011.
