NBC On Board with Year-Round Programming
Instead of focusing on the big fall television season, NBC announced Tuesday that they would be taking a new approach to television programming, The New York Times reported. The network decided to focus on producing new content and new seasons, according to The New York Times, year round.
This change in scheduling also means that the glamorous annual revealing of NBC's fall television shows at Radio City Music Hall in Los Angeles has been canceled, reported the Los Angeles Times.
Jeff Zucker, NBC Universal President and CEO, reported the Washington Post, said of the changes the network was making, "A business-as-usual approach no longer applies in today's multi-platform media environment."
Another spokesman for NBC, Michael Pilot, the head of the network's sales, according to The New York Times, believes, "We absolutely think this is going to change the industry."
The other major networks, ABC, CBS, FOX, and the CW have not announced a change in their programming, the Los Angeles Times reported.
