NBC to Continue Showing Phelps In Between Olympics
The eight-time gold medal winner will swim competitively throughout the London Olympics.
As we have seen in the television landscape with reality programs, crime dramas and many other things, networks love to know what gets ratings and then continue to show that same type of thing.
And while the world and national swimming championships aren't the Olympics, NBC will air both in 2009, and the American Swimming National Championships from 2009-2011.
The big reason, as most I'm sure have figured out, is because Michael Phelps should be at all of the events as they lead up to the Olympic games.
The financial terms of the deal have not yet been released, but with the amount of people that watched Phelps win eight golds in, in large part, exciting fashion, the deal seems like a smart one for NBC.
