NBC postpones ‘Prime Suspect’ remake
According to an article on HollywoodReporter.com, “It follows a fearless female detective as she investigates complex mysteries in a politically loaded big city. Prime Suspect hinges on the main character, played brilliantly by Helen Mirren in the original series.’”
The project, which is based on the award-winning BBC series that aired from 1991 to 2006, was written by the creator of the CBS police drama Without a Trace, Hank Steinberg.
The HollywoodReporter.com article continues by stating that, “After a long search, NBC execs felt they couldn't find the right actress for the role and opted to shelve the project until June. This is the second pilot this season to be pushed because of casting reasons, following the ABC comedy Women Are Crazy, Men Are Stupid.”
Steinberg also wrote and was the executive producer of the ABC drama The Nine, which starred Tim Daly but only aired for one season. He also was the executive producer of several episodes of the NBC drama Kings, which aired from March 15, 2009 to July 25, 2009 and starred Macaulay Culkin, Ian McShane, Dylan Baker and Wes Studt.
