NBC Renews Three More Shows

Fate of others still undetermined.

NBC has officially cemented its Thursday night comedy block for the 2010-2011 season.

The network announced on Friday that it would renew the shows 30 Rock, The Office, and Community. These announcements follow the renewal of Parks and Recreation, which was renewed in January, according to The Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

The Office, which is now in its sixth season, is NBC’s number one scripted series in the 18-49 year old demographic, bringing in strong numbers to the network during the 9/8 central time slot. 30 Rock, which had a slow start with viewers in 2006, has seen viewers steadily increase to an average 6.9 million viewers. The show has also won the best comedy series Emmy the last years three years in a row.

Community, currently in its freshman season, was the only show that was originally questioned, but has seen the audience grow as strong buzz from critics did as well, much in the same way as the audience for Parks and Recreation grew.

“We are happy to give these early pickups to these critically acclaimed, incredibly funny comedies,” Angela Bromstad, NBC’s prime-time entertainment president, said in a statement. “As a result, we look forward to continuing our rewarding partnership with the respective creative teams and talented show-runners for 30 Rock, The Office and Community as they all consistently deliver quality shows.”
