NBC Suing over Project Runway
In news that shook the TV world on Monday, Variety announced that Project Runway would be moving from Bravo to Lifetime. However, it seems that the producing company behind Project Runway, the Weinstein Co., angered NBC Universal by signing a five year deal for the program with Lifetime.
NBC (who owns Brave) has filed suit against the Weinstein Co., claiming that they went against their deal that would allow them to match Lifetime's deal. An insider at NBC told Variety, "[Lifetime]'s been sold stolen goods."
NBC released the statement, "NBC Universal regrettably had no alternative but to bring legal action to enforce its rights to this program." The Weinstein Co. lawyer believes something different. He said, "We believe that this lawsuit is without merit."
At the current moment, Lifetime is planning on airing the show in the fall.
