For the first time in two decades, NBC plans to run six comedies in one night. The network unveiled its midseason lineup earlier today, Entertainment Weekly reports, and announced that The Biggest Loser: Couples, The Celebrity Apprentice, The Marriage Ref, Minute to Win It, Parks and Recreation, and Who Do You Think You Are? are making their long-awaited return to the schedule.
“The goal for our midseason schedule was to keep us in original programming throughout the season and launch several promising new shows,” said NBC’s head of program planning and scheduling, Mitch Metcalf. “We were looking to add more comedy to our schedule, and we believe the best way to do so is to expand our already successful Thursday night.”
On Thursday nights from 8:00-11:00 p.m. beginning January 20, six comedies -- Community, Perfect Couples, The Office, Parks and Recreation, 30 Rock, and Outsourced -- will air on NBC.
The network has not had six comedies run on the same night since the 1990-91 season, when Parenthood, Working it Out, The Golden Girls, Empty Nest, Carol & Company, and American Dreamer were televised on Saturdays.
