Seacrest out, Harris in?
After the current season of the ever popular reality singing competition show American Idol is wrapped up, Ryan Seacrest's current contract will expire. The Huffington Post reported that there has been speculation that he will leave the show after 11 seasons as host, especially now that he has gotten the green light to launch his new TV network and is also in the mix for two new hosting gigs, one to replace Matt Lauer on The Today Show and another to host The Voice on NBC.
Of course with this kind of announcement comes rumors of possible replacements, and on the top of the list was Neil Patrick Harris. But according to Digital Spy, Harris put a stop to the rumors Monday in an interview on Access Hollywood.
"I found that out too, online, that apparently I was supposed to be replacing Ryan Seacrest." Harris told the show's host Kit Hoover. "I would not want to do that job at all. I'd rather be a judge on American Idol. That seems like the fun gig. You don't have to memorize, you just sit there and judge if they're good or bad. But, poor Seacrest has to read that little teleprompter thing."
It seems like it could have been a good fit, but Harris is a busy guy as it is. His show How I Met Your Mother is still going strong and Harris said that he hopes to stay with the show as long as it's on the air.
As for Seacrest, he has been downplaying the rumors of his split from the show as well as who the new host could be if he were to leave.
