The New Bachelor Is . . .

It seems to be a popular trend in reality TV.



Take a lesser cast member from a previous show in terms of being the featured member of that particular show (like New York from Flava of Love) and give that person their own reality show.

We see this all the time - because it's interesting for the fans of the show, but also cheap for the networks producing the show with already low production costs.

With this formula in mind, The Bachelor chose their new leading man. And it is Jason Mesnick, who proposed to DeAnna Pappas in last season's finale of The Bachelorette.

He eventually lost out in the fourth season to professional snowboarder Jesse Csincsak, who's now engaged to Pappas.



Mesnick will choose from 25 lovely ladies looking for love (or maybe their own season of The Bachelorette) in the next season of the ABC staple.



The Bachelor will premiere in January.
