A New Chapter for Lindsay Lohan

Lohan Meets Lennon

According to Daily Variety, Lindsay Lohan and Jared Leto have signed on to star in "Chapter 27," an independent film about the final days of John Lennon's life.

Lohan will play a fan who becomes friends with Lennon's assassin, Mark Chapman, played by Jared Leto, just days before he is killed outside the now infamous Dakota apartment building in New York City. There is no word yet as to who will be cast in the role of the former Beatle.

Lohan, most widely known for her roles in hit teen movies, "Mean Girls," "Freaky Friday," and most recently, "Herbie: Fully Loaded," seems to be taking her career in a more mature direction. She has just completed work on a Robert Altman film, "A Prairie Home Companion," and has signed on to be in "Bobby," a film directed by Emilio Estevez about Robert F. Kennedy's assassination.

The "Chapter 27" project ironically comes to life shortly before the 25th anniversary of John Lennon's death, on December 8, 1980.
