New 'Mad Max' Gains 'About a Boy' Star
New casting news from the new Mad Max film, currently subtitled Fury Road!
The Hollywood Reporter reports that Nicholas Hoult has joined the cast of the post-Apocalyptic film as a character named Nux.
Hoult has proven to be a rising star recently, starting with his breakout role as Marcus in About a Boy, opposite Hugh Grant, Toni Collette, and Rachel Weisz, and has gone on to acclaim in the British television series Skins. He has also earned a BAFTA nomination for his work in A Single Man. It's good to see that, more and more, child actors are proving that it is possible to mature into responsible adult actors!
Mad Max 4: Fury Road stars Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron and is directed by George Miller, who also directed the first three films in the franchise, as well as The Witches of Eastwick and, of all things, Happy Feet and its sequel.
The new movie takes place shortly after the third film, Beyond Thunderdome, which allows the much-younger-than-Mel Gibson Tom Hardy to play the same character that pushed Gibson into public consciousness. There had been talk about whether Gibson would have a cameo, but this has been rebuked.
