New Melrose Lacks Punch of Old
Those of us that were fans of "Melrose Place" in the '90s, with Heather Locklear as the coldhearted-conniver, Courtney Thorne-Smith as the sweet but agenda-ridden girl next door, Kristin Davis's psychotic beauty, and Marcia Cross as the insane Kimberly, may not find the new "Melrose Place" up to snuff.
"Melrose Place" of old was campy, fun, shocking, and a guilty pleasure. It easily outshone many of the soap operas of the time, and was sorely missed by rabid fans when it was inevitably cancelled (as all great shows are) after seven seasons.
So far, the show has mixed reviews, being whether to not watch it, or turn the TV off during that time and go outside. One and a half out of four stars is all the new "Melrose" can muster. In spite of Thomas Calabro and Laura Leighton reprising their roles (and didn't Sydney die?), this show still may not float to the top of the soap opera cream.
